Open the live map of ArnhemArnhem is the only Dutch city that still runs trolleybuses. Several RRReis city routes draw power from the overhead wires strung above the approach roads, while the rest run on diesel or battery. The network fans out from Centraal Station to Presikhaaf, the Geitenkamp, Elden and Rijkerswoerd on the far side of the Nederrijn. RRReis publishes live positions, so those buses genuinely slide across the OVatlas map, line number and current delay attached.
The station is a turntable between the Randstad, the Achterhoek and Germany. NS operates the intercities to Utrecht, Zwolle and Roosendaal, and regional trains to Winterswijk, Doetinchem and Tiel leave from the same platforms. Anyone heading for Nijmegen can choose between the sprinter and express bus 300, which runs frequently and ends on the campus. The map shows both options side by side, along with any disruption or engineering work in force.
Beyond the city boundary the picture changes quickly: northwards the network climbs into the woods of the Veluwezoom towards Velp and Dieren, westwards it runs past Oosterbeek and Wolfheze to Ede-Wageningen, eastwards it heads into the Liemers. Those regional routes run less often than the city buses, and that is exactly where it helps to check at the stop what is actually coming rather than what is scheduled.

Line 300 is the fastest bus link, running at high frequency between Arnhem Centraal and the university campus in Nijmegen. The train is quicker still. OVatlas lets you watch both and decide which suits the moment better.
