Open the live map of AmersfoortAmersfoort owes its transport offer to geography: lines from Utrecht, Amsterdam, Zwolle, Apeldoorn and Ede converge here, which makes Centraal Station one of the larger rail junctions in the middle of the country. The city has three stations, because alongside Centraal there are Schothorst and Vathorst serving the northern districts. U-OV runs the city buses tying those stations to the old town and the outlying neighbourhoods, and it publishes live positions while doing so.
The city network is easy to read and revolves around Centraal Station. Line 2 heads for Hoogland and Kattenbroek, line 3 for Vathorst, line 6 through the old town along the Ganzenstraat, while lines 4 and 7 serve Schothorst. Regional routes to Leusden, Woudenberg, Bunschoten, Barneveld and Hilversum leave from the same bus station. Tap a stop on OVatlas and you get every line calling there with its next departure.
Travelling to Utrecht leaves you a choice. The train takes about a quarter of an hour, while express bus 34 drops you straight at P+R Westraven, which helps if you need the southern side of Utrecht. Amersfoort has park-and-ride facilities of its own at Hooglandsepoort and De Vinkenhoef. What is arriving at such a site can be read off the map without opening a timetable at all.
Three: Amersfoort Centraal is the main junction, Schothorst sits on the line towards Zwolle, and Vathorst serves the new district in the north. On OVatlas you can open each station separately for live train departures and connecting buses.
U-OV operates the city and regional routes around Amersfoort, and the trains belong to NS. Both feed live vehicle positions into the national data streams, so buses and trains alike appear on the map as moving markers.

Because for that particular run the national feed carries departure times but no position, typically after an equipment failure or when a replacement vehicle is used. The bus is running; OVatlas can only display what the operator actually publishes.
