OVatlas shows the buses, trams, metros, trains and ferries of every Dutch operator as moving dots on the map. Each dot is a real vehicle: with its line number, its current delay and the next departure times at the stops it is heading for.
The positions come straight from the operators' open real-time feeds and refresh every few seconds. There is no app in between, no account and no subscription: you open the map and watch.
Start with your own city or let the map jump to your location. Zooming in brings up the stops and stations.
You see the whole trip: every stop, the scheduled and the expected time, and how many minutes the vehicle is running ahead or behind.
Plan a door-to-door journey, add lines to your favourites, or follow a bus while it is on its way to your stop.
Every city and regional operator that shares vehicle positions through the national data portal: Connexxion, Arriva, Qbuzz, EBS, RET, HTM, U-OV, Hermes, Keolis and RRReis. The trains of NS and the regional rail operators come from the national train position feed. For each vehicle you see where it is now, which line it runs and when it is expected at the next stops.
To be fair: not everything is live. An operator that only publishes departure times per stop and no positions shows up at the stop, but not as a dot on the map. The guide data sources and freshness (in Dutch) lists which feeds we use and how fresh they are.
The delay shown on a vehicle is the difference between the timetable and the time the operator reports now. Up to a minute counts as on schedule, up to three minutes as slightly delayed, beyond that as delayed; a vehicle running more than two minutes early gets its own colour. At a stop you see for each departure whether the time is scheduled or already confirmed by the vehicle. More in what does the delay mean? (in Dutch).
